People, Places, and Things

Use the People, Places, and Things substance use worksheet to help clients identify when their cravings are triggered. Clients will be asked to list several people, places, and things that make them more likely to use. This worksheet works well as an ice-breaker in addictions groups. The copy reads: "People, places, and things that remind us of our past drug use can trigger relapse. Driving past an old bar, hanging out with certain friends, or listening to an old song can bring back memories of using. List the people, places, and things you should avoid to reduce your risk of relapse."
